Accessibility-friendly Archaeology Exhibit

You are invited to test our accessibility-friendly Archaeology exhibit on Saturday, January 21, 2023, 11am-2pm.

The Burke Museum is launching a new Accessibility-friendly way to experience the Archaeology gallery. Over the past six months we have been working on creating a more accessible gallery experience. After much hard work and collaboration across departments, we are getting ready to make this experience available to the public. We are looking for disabled, neurodivergent, and other UW community members who might benefit from alternative formats to come and try out this gallery experience. This accessible guide to the Archaeology Gallery, Our Material Worlds, was designed by disabled students for disabled community members. As we unveil it we are looking for your community feedback on how we can continue to improve this experience. The testing visit will be complimentary! If you are interested in helping us and testing out our accessible gallery guide please come on January 21st. On the day of testing please come to the front desk and let them know you are here for the testing. We will be greeting people up on the third floor Archaeology gallery.

If that time doesn’t work and you would still like to participate in testing, please email lphill@uw.edu or laxtelle@uw.edu for more testing opportunities.

Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

The Archaeology Team
